Containing 0.40% sodium hyaluronate, the highly effective I-DEFENCE® formulation delivers maximum, long-lasting relief from dry eye symptoms while remaining well tolerated by patients.
The unique viscous properties of I-DEFENCE® allow for prolonged contact time with the ocular surface. This moisturizing ointment provides soothing relief from dry eye symptoms such as pain, irritation, and the sensation of grit or sand in the eyes, while acting as a protective barrier that helps retain moisture. It can be used during surgical procedures and is ideal for patients suffering from nocturnal lagophthalmos.
How to use
I-DEFENCE® is recommended for nighttime use. Patients may experience a foreign body sensation immediately after application; however, this sensation will subside after a few blinks. If the ointment is used during the day, patients should not drive or operate heavy machinery, as their vision may become blurred due to the ointment’s consistency. I-DEFENCE® achieves maximum effectiveness when used at night while the patient is asleep, allowing the ointment to remain on the corneal surface for a longer period.
Do not use I-DEFENCE® while wearing contact lenses.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
- Wash your hands thoroughly before using I-DEFENCE®.
- When opening I-DEFENCE® for the first time, do not use the initial amount of ointment dispensed, as it may be watery. Gently squeeze the tube until the ointment begins to emerge.
- Tilt your head slightly backward and gently pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
- Hold the tube vertically above your eye.
- Gently squeeze the tube to apply a small amount of ointment into the eye (preferably at bedtime). Repeat the process for the other eye.
- If an additional daytime application is needed, apply a small amount of ointment to the eyes every 3–4 hours or as directed by your physician.
- Ensure that the tip of the tube does not touch any surface, including your eyes or fingers.
- Replace the cap securely after use.
I-DEFENCE® should be used within 8 weeks of opening the tube.
I-DEFENCE® is supplied in a sterile tube. To maintain the sterility of both the tip and the contents of the tube, it is recommended to instill I-DEFENCE® into the eye without allowing the tip to touch the cornea or surrounding tissues.
